Assignment Requirements

 

1. Elements of Surrealism

Clear use of at least 3 of the elements of Surrealism in your piece and created a cohesive composition in a surrealistic style.

• Disorientation ‐ Odd vantage points, abnormal proportions, levitation, enlarged details

• Unexpected Juxtaposition – Things that don’t usually go together

• Anatomical Surprises! – Human or animal features in unnatural places

• Animated Inanimate Objects – Giving life to non‐living objects

• Metamorphic Creatures ‐ Merging objects into one, swapping character traits between objects

• Association of Complementaries ‐ This looks like something else, identifiable shapes used in unnatural circumstances, borrowing characteristics

 

2. Digital Process & Selection

Used the selection tool and layers to create an interesting landscape that is from at least 2 different photographs (e.g., foreground from one photo, sky or background from another photo).

Demonstrated knowledge of the following digital editing tools:

• Image selection (magic wand, lasso, marquee, etc.)

• Cutting and pasting

• Edges are refined, necessary parts are blended/smoothed

• Images adjusted to match each other (brightness, contrast, color balance, ect.).

 

3. Skill and Attention to Detail

• Careful attention to detail

• Clean edges

• Elements are seamlessly integrated.
